A classic rock style power trio inspired by jimi Hendrix and Driven by improvisational jams and spontaneous lyrics. This band flourished in the Cincinnati region From 1984 until the end of 1999. With David Butler and Joe Hunneman now Playing blues exclusively in the David butler blues band Which can be found on mp3.com
only playing gigs sporadically this band hosted many parties in Loveland ohio and quite a few of them have been recorded for posterity. Of course many of the gigs were recorded also, and some of them Have turned out very nice and electric rainbow wants to make them available to you.
The first in what we hope to be a series of our better and best recordings is live at sudsy Malone's 5-21-90. THE hot spot for live music in the Cincinnati college life and just a couple of Weeks before electric rainbow went into their homemade, multitrack, reel to reel, Studio to record their as of yet only studio recordings.
This performance was a highlight for us being the first club in the college scene That we had played.
The songs on this recording are presented in the order they were performed, Which consisted of three sets.
Track 1: Trip song in A is an instrumental that we have played since we first began Playing together, we use the solo sections to experiment with the music. Never sounding the same but never out of control.
Track 2: So here we are with its southern rock influence was written from a jam that We liked and wrote a song to it the same day. This song is great for rowdy Soloing and as time past became a standard for the end of a set jam that we Could pull all the stops out, this version is much shorter than many that followed.
Track 3: A rose so new is our power ballad you could say with it's slower pace And steady rhythm this song comes across with a lot of feeling, With melodic and soulful guitar, David shows his ability to make The abstract concrete.
Track 4: My little lady is a song about David's guitar not his girlfriend, she comes in second I guess. Bluesy and poetic, we feel this song is a nice blend of blues and classic rock styles.
Track 5: Gypsy boy was written as a dedication to the memory of Jimi Hendrix who is a major influence of Electric Rainbow, nearly the bulk of the cover songs that we play are Jimi Hendrix songs, long live the Gypsy!!!!
Track 6: Trip song in E another instrumental/experimental with a slightly different groove. The same method of improvisation and structure mixed together has allowed us to create many songs over the years, we like to think of it as the music playing us.
